About Us
Live Game Labs is a consortium of some twenty-odd (yes, odd!) experienced LARP designers in the Greater Los Angeles area. Many of us have strong historical associations with Enigma (http://wiki NULL.enigmata NULL.org/index NULL.php?title=Main_Page), the UCLA speculative fiction, fantasy, horror and gaming club, which independently ‘invented’ the idea of live role-playing games in the late 1980′s. We used to be “Enigma Live Game Labs”, but we have forged ahead with our own identity. We were by no means the first, but our live games (as we called our LARPs before the word LARP even existed) have evolved in their own way.
LGL is an independent organization for the promotion of LARPs run by our members. Our general style of LARP can be described as:
1. Roughly 12-30 players per game.
2. One-shot events running for one night only, or a series of one-shot larps with a single narrative spread over months.
3. Theater-style.
4. Thematically diverse: historical, science fiction, horror, fantasy, westerns, crossover genres, adaptations of known shows, movies, comics, etc., experiments, and LARPs you’ve never thought possible!
We’re always experimenting, so out next LARP might throw all of the above out the airlock! Be sure to check back with us.
